Summer Vibes

Can you believe July is halfway over and Stampede is winding down!? We're halfway through summer as we know it, which is all the more reason to get your crew together and live it up! In this month's Butter Loves Local, we feature two more festivals to get you through July and August, and invite you to check out one of our favourite business in Inglewood! Read on!

Moonstone Creation

Moonstone Creation is an incredible Indigenous-owned boutique featuring handmade Native art, jewellery, crafts, clothing, and more! It is co-owned by Cree mother-daughter duo Yvonne Jobin and Amy Willier. Yvonne is an internationally-recognized Indigenous artist who brings traditional aspects of her culture into the works she creates. We love that we can find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the rich history of our city and surrounding area! And as a family owned business ourselves, we appreciate the hard work, dedication, and spirit that these women have!

Amy and Yvonne also offer classes on traditional beading, ceremonial drumming, dream catcher making, and fish scale art. Visit their website for specific dates.

Moonstone Creation has been gracious enough to offer our guests 10% off all products through to August 15.

Art + Culture

Calgary Folk Music Festival

Calgary Folk Festival runs July 27 through 30, and it's always a highlight of our summer! This year, we're particularly excited to see recent Polaris Prize Winner and Inuk throat singer Tanya Tagaq,  BADBADNOTGOOD, and country-soul singer-songwriter Yola Carter. To get you in the folk spirit, we've created a playlist for you here:

Taste of Calgary

We love food. Like, looooooooove it. So, when we have the opportunity to be surrounded by vendors of all types in a plaza as gorgeous as the one in Eau Claire, we're DEFINITELY on board! Plus, it's their 20th anniversary! What better way to celebrate than with fine food and drinks?!

Brenda's House + The Children's Cottage

Each month, a group of our Hedkandi stylists visit Brenda's House to provide hair cuts for the children and families living in tough transition periods. Whenever we have done our "Hot Tools" promotion which allows our guests to recycle old hot tools for a credit towards a new one, we donate the working items to Brenda's House families as well! Each time we visit we see first hand the amazing job that Brenda's House staff do in supporting these families, so if you're looking for a great cause to support, donate now!
