2019 Salons of the Year: Butter Beauty Parlour

Butter Beauty Parlour in Calgary, Alberta, has been named a “Salon of Distinction” in the nationally acclaimed “Salons of the Year” interior design competition hosted by SALON TODAY, the leading business publication for the professional salon industry.

The salon, owned by Jereme Bokitch, distinguished itself among qualified entries, and was featured in the May/June 2019 issue of SALON TODAY magazine.

“This year, the competition was tough, as salon after salon created gorgeous spaces where team members could do their best work creating an elevated beauty experience for each and every client, ,” says Stacey Soble, editor in chief of SALON TODAY.

Salons competing in the annual “Salons of the Year” competition were either newly constructed or remodeled salons between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2018. A grand-prize winner, a men’s grooming salon winner, a nail salon winner, and two runners up were named. Sixteen additional salons received “Salons of Distinction” status and were featured in the special issue devoted to salon design.

Salons were judged in six design categories: Use of Color, Lighting, Flooring, Efficient Use of Space, Consistency of Design and Overall Aesthetics. All entries were evaluated in a multi-step process by the editors and art directors of SALON TODAY and MODERN SALON. Statistics and images of all 20 winning salons are posted here.
