COMMUNITY - MUSTARD SEED
It can be easy to lose perspective and see a haircut as a part of our routine, getting a trim every few weeks as needed. Recently, our team was reminded of exactly what a good hair cut can mean for some amazing folks in need.
A fresh hair cut can elevate your mood, update your look, and offer some added confidence, but it can also offer a little humanity and relaxation for those in need.
This past month, we joined the Mustard Seed, Calgary Legal Guidance, The New Urban Registry, and a number of other local agencies who serve our city's homeless population for an Identification Information Fair.
Huge shout out and thank you to our stylists Adel, Brenna, Crystal, Kim, Leigh, Molly and barber Jay for contributing their time to such a worthwhile cause! They were able to provide haircuts for almost fifty people as part of the identification fair; a majority of them then received photo identification, which is a necessity for accessing services like low-income transit passes. Identification can also help people to file their taxes, rent apartments, get jobs, or even apply for social benefits or get into treatment programs.
We can't express enough gratitude to each of the agencies who help support and serve our city's homeless population for allowing us to take part in such a wonderful event, and we encourage our guests to check them each out to learn more about the work they're doing!
